Progress! Parties! Press!

Lots of great stuff happening with the Kickstarter campaign for The Summer Help documentary! Here’s a quick update:

  • We reached 20% of our goal in the first 8 days…which is amazing! We are so happy and humbled for all the support from 57 backers so far!  In case you don’t know, this campaign (click here)  is “all-or-nothing”- we don’t get to keep the funds unless we reach our goal in a few weeks! There’s still time for you to contribute, get rewards and be part of our filmmaking journey 🙂  But please don’t wait until the end- we need support now!

  • We have had some interesting articles written about us, including this one (click here)  that does a great job explaining the details about who is in the film and who is making it (me, Melody Gilbert) and why.

  • We are having a party in Chicago on Sunday evening (August 23rd) where we will drink some complimentary beer and wine at the beautiful Music Box Theater at 6pm and then show clips from the film and introduce the movie to new fans and friends in the Windy City, which is where I (director, Melody Gilbert)  lives now with her husband Mark Wollemann.   Feel free to invite anyone you know to the event–it’s open to the public!.  Here’s the event on Facebook (click here).  Screen Shot 2015-08-18 at 10.11.56 AM

More updates to come as the campaign progresses.  We are finding that many people are interested in the subject of international college students working summer jobs in the U.S. and/or they are interested in supporting true independent filmmaking. Check out some of Melody’s other films here ( and please help us spread the word about the campaign! Most of the donations come from friends or friends of friends, so please consider sharing the video, the trailer, the story and how to donate . Your can also share or “like” this blog post by clicking below at the bottom of the page.

If you haven’t already, please follow us on social media! We are posting some interesting pics like this one every day on Instagram (#TheSummerHelp) that shows the summer workers at their jobs.  We are also posting daily updates on Facebook (click here) and  Twitter (click here) with #TheSummerHelp. We are very excited about getting this documentary finished and out in the world. With your help, we can get to the finish line!

Thanks for your interest and support. Could not do this without YOU!
